Mitali Patil
4th Year, Ph.D. in Bioengineering

Mitali works under the guidance of Dr. Prashant Kumta on the development of ex-situ biosensors for early diagnosis and continuous monitoring of cardiovascular disease.
Mitali is also the Vice President of Committees for the Graduate and Professional Student Government, and serves on various committees associated with GPSG. She serves as the student representative for the Community Relations and Bylaws and Procedures Committees on the University Senate, and is also one of the student representatives for the Provost's Advisory Committee for Women's Concerns. Outside of the University, she regularly volunteers on weekends at the Animal Rescue League and Wildlife Center.

Brian Lupish
2nd Year, Professional M.S. in Bioengineering
Brian is in his first year of the professional masters program in Bioengineering focusing on medical product innovation. His work currently involves collaboration with physicians to identify areas in which new medical devices could optimize surgical procedures. Additionally, he is currently working as a consultant for Fourth River Solutions..

Michelle Guaragno
3rd Year, Ph.D. in Bioengineering

Michelle is a third-year Ph.D. student in the Department of Bioengineering working under Dr. Steven Little. She holds a M.S. in biotechnology as well as an M.B.A., and is a co-founder of Marelle LLC, a company that uses a versatile, novel, and inexpensive process on fullerenes rendering water-insoluble products water-soluble. Her undergraduate research was key for the founding of Marelle LLC.

Avinash Patil
5th Year, Ph.D. in Bioengineering
Avinash is a PhD student in the Department of Bionengineering of Swanson School of Engineering, University of Pittsburgh. He works at the Center for Craniofacial Regeneration (CCR) with Dr. Elia Beniash and Dr. Charles Sfeir, professors at the Oral Biology Department of School of Dental Medicine. Currently, Avinash, holds a fundraiser position at Bioengineering Innovation and Commercialization Program (BICP), a student chapter of BMES that helps to introduce students to entrepreneurial activities. His main interest is in medical device development field (more specifically in Biomaterial and Tissue Engineering area of orthopedic field). Avinash has experience of working in a pharmaceutical industry and Indian Government’s National Chemical Laboratory before coming to graduate school. His other passion is to bring the quality health care to under-served and under-privileged patients. He also support the missions of various non-profit organizations who serves the under-privileged children in their education and other related needs

Abhilasha Singh
2nd Year, Professional M.S. in Bioengineering
Abhi has recently joined University of Pittsburgh for the Professional MS in Bioengineering program through the Centre for Medical Innovation. She has completed her Bachelor's in Biotechnology and an integrated MBA in Marketing from GGSIP University in New Delhi, India. She aims to use her engineering and management skills to become a successful entrepreneur in the medical device industry. Outside of class, she enjoys to travel and meet new people.
